Byrnes hires new girls basketball coach

Byrnes High School has hired Missy Fowler to become the next girls basketball coach. Fowler takes over for Stacey Parris, who stepped down at the end of last season.

Fowler’s husband Lane is the Byrnes boys basketball coach and led the his team to a state championship back in February.

Missy Fowler joined the guys as a guest on Open Mic Daily Tuesday afternoon. Fowler said she’s excited to get back into coaching.

“It’s been a while.” Fowler said. “I’m now a mom and I’ve been able to watch Lane do it and build a program. I haven’t had a whistle around my next in 6 years and I’m ready to get back.”

Fowler was previously an assistant coach at Byrnes for 2 years. She went on to become the Head Coach at Chapman high school for 6 years.

Fowler was a 3 sport athlete in high school at Minnetonka HS in Minneapolis Minnesota. She played college basketball at College of Charleston and scored over 1000 career points including hitting a record 7 three pointers in a game at App St. Fowler was 2nd team all southern conference.

Missy and Lane both played college basketball but Missy let the guys know who owns who on the court.

“I beat Lane every time in HORSE.”
