BE INNOVATIVE ELSEWHERE!

Based on what I’ve heard from the SEC Meetings I would like to see Alabama play Michigan in a bowl game this coming season. Jim Harbaugh has stirred things up and Nick Saban doesn’t like it.

I understand that SEC, and southern football coaches in general, are territorial about their traditional recruiting grounds (Will Muschamp seems to be a pleasant exception). Dabo Swinney has publicly said he’s not thrilled about satellite camps.

But Clemson has often gone north to pull kids from places like New Jersey.  Alabama has recruited nationally for years.

SEC and southern coaches are going to have to get used to the fact that due to technology and other advances the world is smaller than it’s ever been. Satellite camps may violate tradition, but Harbaugh is simply being innovative.

And since the SEC as a whole has rarely had a problem with coaches pushing the proverbial envelope when it comes to recruiting, shouldn’t they be quietly applauding Harbaugh for coming up with another way to recruit more effectively?
