Vikings and Panthers

The Spartanburg Vikings and the Carolina Panthers made history Thursday morning.  The Panthers became the 1st team in NFL history to host a local high school team and practice with them.

The Vikings came out first, followed by the Panthers. Many of the Vikings took the opportunity to meet some of their favorite Panthers. Vikings left tackle Grady Thomas immediately went over and shook hands with Panthers left tackle Michael Oher. Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis came over to meet all of the Vikings linebackers. Even head Vikings coach Chris Miller couldn’t stop smiling. Needless to say many of the Vikings took the chance to also say hey to Cam Newton.

The teams practiced for just over 2 hours this morning at Wofford college. Spartanburg High School Athletic Director Todd Staley was excited to say the least.

“This is amazing. This is something our kids will never forget” Staley said.

The Vikings begin their season in just 15 days on August 19th when they host Summerville.
