Turner leaves Broome for Woodmont

By Jed Blackwell/The Spartanburg Sports Report

Broome High School will have to replace its head football coach and athletic director. Jet Turner stepped down from those positions on Thursday to take the head football coaching vacancy at Woodmont.

Turner led the Centurions program for five seasons, finishing 30-20 and winning a region title in 2013. He had previous coaching stings at Wilson Hall, Ware Shoals, and Clover, where he led the Blue Eagles to the 4A Division II title in 2007.

Turner inherits a Wildcats team that finished as the No. 4 seed in Region I-5A last year, falling to Laurens 35-7 in the first round of the 5A playoffs, Woodmont’s first post-season appearance in eight years.

He takes over for Ned Cuthbertson, a former Byrnes player, who resigned in January after compiling a 9-24 record in three seasons at the helm of the program.
