Hall named Athlete of the Year

By Jed Blackwell/The Spartanburg Sports Report

Dorman’s Thayer Hall has added yet another honor to her astounding list of accomplishments.

The Cavaliers’ junior setter has been selected as the MaxPreps/United States Marine Corps High School Athlete of the Year.

Hall’s honor comes on the heels of a spectacular junior season that saw her help lead the Cavaliers to the first-ever 5A state volleyball title. She is the Gatorade South Carolina Player of the Year, the High School Sports Report’s Miss Volleyball, and 5A Player of the year. She won USA Today All-American honors and is the PrepVolleyball National Junior Player of the Year as well as a Volleyball Mag National Top 25 Underclassman.

A member of the silver medal winning USA Women’s Junior National Team, Thayer is competing this week in Costa Rica as the only non-collegiate player on that team, representing the country at the Pan American Cup.

We will have an in-depth interview with Thayer when she returns.
