Spartanburg County

New…New Realignment

Many high schools in our listening area were affected directly and indirectly by today’s appellate panel hearings. The results are below.

Class AAA

Region II now is Broome, Chapman, Carolina, Chesnee, Southside.

Landrum has now moved back to Region I 2A, the same region they are currently in.

Region III is now  Clinton, Woodruff, Emerald, Mid-Carolina, Newberry, and Union.  The Yellow Jackets won their appeal and are now in 3A.

Class AAAAA

New Region III is now Clover, Fort Mill, Nation Ford, Northwestern, Rock Hill.

York moved down to 4A.  Spring Valley and Blythewood moved to a new Region VIII 5A which will be a floater region for the playoffs. According to the SCHSL, there is no plan at this time to move other 5A teams into Region III. We will keep an eye on this because it could affect Gaffney and possibly Spartanburg.  I am told Spartanburg would appeal a move. But again, either team moving is VERY highly unlikely.
