Week three of the season is here and a couple of our local teams have the week off, while a couple of others look to get on back on track after rough outings last week. Other teams will look to keep the train rolling as the season moves right along.
Game of the Week- Union at Broome
The Jackets are one of those teams that will look to bounce back from a rough week last week. Union kept it close with Gaffney for a half then the Indians blew it open in the third quarter. Union actually played pretty good but were unable to take advantage of a couple of scoring opportunities early and it cost them. Broome bounced back from their loss to Woodruff with a dominating win over the Clinton Red Devils. The Centurions looked good on both sides of the ball in the win Friday night. This should be a really good football game and I look forward to calling it on the radio Friday night.
Chesnee at Walhalla
The Eagles looked good last week against Blue Ridge in a 42-7 win over the Tigers. This weeks game will likely be more difficult. Walhalla can play some defense which is evident from their 10-7 win last week over Landrum. Last year Chesnee was inconsistent from week to week. This year I hope they can find some balance. I think this game will be close.
Pick-Chesnee
Woodruff at Seneca
Woodruff squeaked out a win last week over Southside Christian. The veteran leadership of Keegan Halloran was instrumental in getting the Wolverines the come from behind victory. I saw this Seneca team a couple of weeks ago when they played Chapman, and they are big. Like really big. I think Woodruff could have a tough time running the football this week against Seneca. That would put the game in the hands of Halloran, which if I were a Wolverine fan that is exactly where I would want it.
Pick -Woodruff
Landrum vs SCA
Landrum lost a tough one last week to Walhalla. Look for the Cardinals to bounce back this week with authority. What does Coach Jason Farmer want to see from his offense this week? Points. BTW that Landrum defense is pretty good.
Pick -Landrum
Chapman will blow out Blue Ridge.
Dorman vs York
The Cavs may have been a little rusty last week after the starters only played sparingly in week zero and then they had week one off. Look for them to shake that rust off this week and beat a decent York team.
Pick-Dorman
Greer will beat Mauldin
I will take the Gaffney Indians to get it done over Harding University.
Dutch Fork at Boiling Springs
I also think that Dutch Fork will beat Boiling Springs in a rematch of the State Title game of 2016. I don’t think this game will be as close as that one though. While the Boiling Springs defense is good they need a little work on the offensive side of the ball.
Pick: Dutch Fork
