Week 3 Picks

By Ryan Clary

Here are my picks for Week 3:

Broome (2-1) at Union (0-3): (TCB Towing Game of the Week)

I expect this to be a different Union team this week. The Yellow Jackets have played 3 very difficult road games to start the year.  Now they’ll be at home for the first time but they’ll play another very good football team. Broome’s offense has shown good balance and this should be a game that comes down to the last few minutes.

Union 38  Broome 31

Seneca (0-2) at Woodruff (2-1):

Seneca has given up 126 points in their first two games. Yes Chapman and Daniel are incredibly talented, but Woodruff can flat out run the football. Injuries played a big role last week in Woodruff’s loss to SS Christian, although that’s a very good football team.  I look for Woodruff to get back to doing what they do and do it well.

Woodruff 41  Seneca  17

Blue Ridge (2-0) at Chapman (3-0):

Two undefeated teams. Something’s got to give.  This won’t be close.

Chapman 63  Blue Ridge 7

RS Central (2-1) at Chesnee (1-2):

RS Central and Chesnee want to run the football and each QB is a big part of the rushing attack. Chesnee is ahead of schedule in their new offense and how they’ve looked so far this season.  RS Central is a good football team but I like Chesnee’s defense to get some big stops.

Chesnee 21  RS Central 20

SCA (2-0) at Landrum (1-2):

Landrum has played some good football teams to start the season so don’t be fooled by the 1-2 record.  It should even out this week. I’m excited to see SCA going forward this season but this will be a tough test.

Landrum 35 SCA 6

Mauldin (1-1) at Greer (1-2):

Greer is going to be so good in the near future.  The young talent have such high ceilings. I hope Greer fans see how good this group can be.  Mauldin is a good football team although the early loss to Hillcrest surprised me a little bit. Greer being at home will help and this could be a close ball game.

Mauldin 27 Greer 17

Boiling Springs (1-1) at Dutch Fork 2-0-1):

Dutch Fork is an outstanding program. I really want to see Boiling Springs get better this week but this will be a very tall task.

Dutch Fork 55  Boiling Springs 13

Mallard Creek (2-0-1) at Gaffney (2-0):

Both these teams are absolutely outstanding.  There will be so much speed on the field, it’ll look like a track meet. This will come down to the wire.

Gaffney 35  Mallard Creek 34
