Week 3 of the High School Football season featured plenty of high scoring games last night. In our TCB Towing Game of the Week, the Union County Yellow Jackets were able to cruise to their first victory of the season as they beat Broome, 34-7 in the Jackets’ home opener. Quarterback KeSean Glover was solid for Union as he finished with 155 yards on the ground, two passing touchdowns and one rushing score. Running Back Junior Owens had a very good night as he went for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Richard Weber had a touchdown reception for the Centurions in the defeat.
Mauldin was able to erase an early 14-0 deficit as they fought from behind to earn a 24-21 win on the road over Greer. Cam Martin had a 97 yard touchdown run in the first half for Greer (1-3) while Izzy Rhodes and Ian Jackson had the other touchdown runs for the Yellow Jackets.
It was a great game at the New Reservation last night as the Mallard Creek Mavericks were able to outlast the Gaffney Indians, 27-20. Undre Lindsay finished 17 for 30 passing and through for 173 yards and two touchdown passes, one to Tyler Smith and the other to Peanut Kirby. De’Mari Littlejohn had a rushing touchdown in the first quarter for the Indians (2-1).
Mark Hodge’s Chapman Panthers were able to cruise to another dominating victory as they put up a season high 80 points in their 80-19 win over Blue Ridge. Dante Smith, who only played the first half, finished with 125 yards and three touchdowns on five carries. Eli Whittemore returned an interception to the house to get the scoring started for Chapman, who will battle Woodruff in week 4.
The Landrum Cardinals are 2-2 on the season after they beat Spartanburg Christian Academy on Friday, 47-10. Silas Phillips was tough to stop on the ground for the Warriors as he ran for 146 yards and a score. Quarterback Cooper Gentry had another good week as he accounted for three of the Cardinal touchdown, one passing and two rushing.
R-S Central went on the road to Chesnee and earned a 35-21 win last night over Clay Lewis’ Eagles. AJ Littlejohn had a rushing touchdown in the first half for Chesnee while Alijah Means had an 82 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter.
It was quite the performance in Woodruff last night for running back Shamare Dendy as he ran the ball 21 times for 207 yards and a score as the Wolverines beat Seneca, 42-25. Woodruff as a team had 37 carries for a total of 388 yards. BJ Bailey had a couple of touchdown passes in the win.
