Here are the staff picks for week 6.
Dorman at Spartanburg: (Alex)
Spartanburg hosting Dorman. I mean really hosting Dorman. This is gonna be fun. Dorman hasn’t been tested much, but don’t be fooled, they are extremely talented. They only give up 56 yards per game on the ground and just over 100 through the air. But strange things always happen in this game and now that the Vikings are really home, who knows what to expect. The Vikings will need to make some big plays to have a chance to pull the upset.
Dorman 28 Spartanburg 17
Boiling Springs at Mauldin: (Clary)
If there’s one thing Coach Tate knows, it’s how to stop teams. He’ll have to find a way to slow down Mauldin’s desire to run the football. But for Boiling Springs to win, they’ll need some Home Runs on offense. (I’ve got the Braves on my mind) This is a defensive slugfest and could come down to the final drive.
Mauldin 14 Boiling Springs 13
Gaffney at Hillcrest: (Alex)
Gaffney needs to right the ship in a hurry. They’re too talented not to compete for the title. The Indians need to start by finding who’s gonna step up on Defense now that Littlejohn is out for the year. Look for Gaffney to be hungry this week.
Gaffney 34 Hillcrest 20
Greenville at Greer: (Clary)
This one comes down to the 4th Quarter. Greer has to be able to throw the ball downfield.
Greenville 23 Greer 20
Chesnee at Southside: (Clary)
Here we go Chesnee. The goal is to climb the region standings. The 2 chances to do that are this week and next…both on the road. Southside is solid all around so Chensee will have to put together at least 3 long drives to pull the upset.
Southside 31 Chesnee 14
Newberry at Woodruff: (Clary)
Woodruff has surprised many with their performance this year after losing so much from last year. Look for Dendy to have another big night and if Bailey adds that second punch, it’ll be a long night for Newberry.
Woodruff 35 Newberry 23
Byrnes wins big over Riverside. Chapman wins big over Broome. Union wins big over Clinton.
