Staff Picks

Our staff will pick select games throughout the year.

Here are the picks for Week 1.

Byrnes at Spartanburg (TCB Towing Game of the Week):

Alex – The Spartanburg Vikings have new coaches, a new QB, a new defense, just about new everything. Byrnes lost 9 starters on defense, their QB, their RB, and a lot of weapons on both sides. So to sit here and act like I know how this game will go is a joke. However, I think both teams will have their moments and look for Byrnes’ QB Blackmon to make a big play with his legs late.

Byrnes 27  Spartanburg 21

Dorman at Riverside:

Dorman 63  Riverside 0

Boiling Springs at Gaffney:

Clary – The Gaffney Indians are one of the favorites to win the 5A State Title this season. Senior QB Undre Lyndsey is a special talent and he’s surrounded by tons of great players on both sides of the ball. Gaffney hasn’t gotten off to the quickest starts in recent years but peak at the right time come November. This game may be closer than expected as Boiling Springs has some talent returning on both sides of the ball.

Gaffney 38  Boiling Springs 17

Woodruff at Chapman:

Anthony – There’s so much new in this game it’s insane. When you factor in all of the offseason new covid rules, this game has over 2000 different outcome possibilities, maybe. What I do know is Woodruff RB Shamare Dendy is really good. I like the new hires at Chapman a lot, but I’ll go with a strong run game on a rainy night.

Woodruff 28  Chapman 24

Greer at Greenville:

Greer 21   Greenville 19

Legion Academy at Chesnee:

LA 28   Chesnee 14
