Tuesday night the Dorman Cavaliers took control of Region II-5A with a 67-51 win over Riverside. The game was back and forth in the first half, with no team leading by more than 4 points, and the Cavs clinging to a 28-26 lead at the break. Dorman then took over in the third quarter behind senior point guard Jalen Breazeale, who had 10 of his 17 points in the quarter. Dorman had four players score in double figures on the night (Clowney, Surratt, Burgess and Breazeale) and outscored the Warriors 23-11 in the third to take charge. They went on to win their 7th straight game since a loss to this same Riverside team in December. Dorman seems to be hitting their stride at the right time as they move into first place in the region with a 6-1 record. Riverside falls into a tie with Byrnes for second, with a 4-2 region record. Dorman returns to action on Friday night with a match up against crosstown rival Spartanburg. We will have the broadcast of that game on 98.3 FM with coverage beginning at 7:15 pm.
