Boiling Springs

High School Baseball Notebook 3-25

Region play is always a fun time no matter the sport and it is finally underway for everyone in our area.

5A

Byrnes 8 Spartanburg 2

The Rebels looked really good again on Wednesday knocking off the Vikings in dominate fashion.  Andrew Bright led the Rebels at the plate going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and scoring twice.  Gabe Rogers was terrific on the mound going seven innings giving up two runs on three hits, striking out, and walking none.  These two teams are scheduled to complete their three game series on Friday at Duncan Park.

Dorman 6 Riverside 5 F/11

The Cavs and the Warriors have had two very tight games in the first two games of this series. Both games were decided by one run and the second going eleven innings.  TJ White was big for Dorman in the win going 3-3 from the plate with two doubles, three walks, and a stolen base.  Game three will hopefully be another good one Friday night.

Clover 8 Boiling Springs 5

Boiling Springs was dominate in game one and Clover bounced back nicely in game two getting the win to tie the series.  Tristan Smith and Will Holmes both homered for the Bulldogs but it wasn’t enough to get them the win.  Both teams will be aiming for a series victory when they get together Friday night at Clover.

Nation Ford 9 Gaffney 3

Gaffney has struggled in this series dropping the first game 13-3 and this one 9-3. The Indians are 0-2 in the region and need to try to salvage a game.

3A-Tuesday 3/23

Broome 14 Emerald 0

A great start in the region opener for Broome.  Their pitching has been dominate in their last three games in particular.  Jeb Dawson, who threw a perfect game last week, had another big game in this contest.  He went the distance for Broome pitching all five innings, and in the 15 outs he recorded 11 of them came via strikeout.  He was also 2 for 2 at the plate with an RBI.  Dylan Ramirez also had a good game at the plate going 2-3 with two RBI and a triple.

Clinton 11 Union 5

Jackets had an early lead 2-1 heading to the 3rd and that’s when it all fell apart for the Jackets.  Clinton was able to plate four runs that inning followed by a four run 6th and 2 more in the 7th to cruise to the win over Union.  Branson Cook had two doubles and two walks for the Jackets at the plate.

Chapman 7 Woodruff 1

Panthers look to be really strong and winning the first game in the region is alway big.

These two teams will meet again on Friday and we will see if Woodruff will be able to bounce back.

2A

Landrum 15 Greer Middle College 0

Landrum has looked as good as advertised.  Evan Siary has been one of the best pitchers in our area in this early part of the season and he proved it again on Wednesday throwing a perfect game.  In Fact Siary has surrendered a hit this season in three starts and has pitched 11 innings and struck out 24.  If he can continue those numbers Landrum is likely to go back to the 2A title series.
