Week 3 2A/3A Preview

Brooklyn-Cayce @ Chapman

Chapman is coming off a win against a Boiling Springs by a final score of 41-17 to pick up their first win of the season. Quarterback Drew Settle had himself a night for the Panthers completing 25-37 passes for 371 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win.

Chapman will host Brooklyn-Cayce this Friday night to try to make it two wins in a row. Brooklyn-Cayce is coming off a win against Blythewood by a final score of 14-3. I think Chapman will be way too much for Brooklyn-Cayce to handle and I see the Panthers winning big.

Broome @ Indian Land

Broome ended up with a bye week last week as their game was canceled because of Covid protocols. This week the Centurions will be on the road to take on Indian Land.

Broome’s last game against Chesnee they had plenty of offense that was led by their star quarterback Dylan Ramirez but they did have their struggles defensively in the win against Chesnee and struggled defensively in their season opener against Powedersville.

I would like to see their defense step up in this game and get back on track if they do that I think this is a game that the Centurions can come out on top.

RS Central @ Chesnee

Chesnee has fallen to 0-3 and has played a really difficult non-region schedule up to this point playing three straight 3A opponents. This week they will play another team from the 2A classification as they will host RS Central.

Chesnee has handled their own playing up in classification and had their opportunities in each of the matchups in their first three games, they just have been a step behind. I look for Chesnee to have a big week and win their first game of the season.

Landrum @ 96

The Landrum Cardinals picked up their first win of the season last week when they defeated Crescent 21-5 and now they will travel to play 96 on Friday Night.

The Cardinal’s defense was fantastic last week and that allowed their offense to do enough to win the game and they will need that kind of effort again this week against 96, who put up 48 points of offense a couple of weeks ago.

I think the Cardinals have another winnable game this week and have a good shot to win two in a row!

Union County @ York

Union opened their season on a sour note as they fell in their opener by a final score of 44-28 to Laurens last Friday. The Yellow Jackets season was delayed due to covid protocols and that is why last week was their season opener.

They will try to bounce back this week on the road traveling to York.  Union had some flashes last week that showed that they can be a really solid team. And with another full week of practice and a game under their belt, I expect Union to fix a lot of their mistakes from a week ago and got back on the winning track!
