Each Week following Spartanburg Viking Football games, I’m going to take a couple of days and think about the 3 most important things I saw on the field. This week I focus on 3 things I took away from the 52-13 win over Boiling Springs.
- I’ve said this for a while now…for Spartanburg to compete for Region and State Titles, they had to get over the Boiling Springs hump. By that I mean there was a mental hurdle against the Bulldogs, who have been a very good program so make no mistake, it’s no shame at all in a losing streak to a very good program like Boiling Springs. But the past few years have not been the best for Spartanburg and it has seemed like a tipping point, one way or another, is the Boiling Springs game. After an emotional win last year, the Vikings blew out the Bulldogs for the first time since 2014. I believe it’s safe to say that mental hurdle has been removed.
- It’s a lot of fun to watch a player who shows potential break out. That happened against the Bulldogs with Viking WR Andrew Dantin. The Junior had 12 catches for 281 yards. His route running
- The DL made a massive impact.
