3 Things Week 3

Each Week following Spartanburg Viking Football games, I’m going to take a couple of days and think about the 3 most important things I saw on the field.  This week I focus on 3 things I took away from the 52-13 win over Boiling Springs.

  1. I’ve said this for a while now…for Spartanburg to compete for Region and State Titles, they had to get over the Boiling Springs hump. By that I mean there was a mental hurdle against the Bulldogs, who have been a very good program so make no mistake, it’s no shame at all in a losing streak to a very good program like Boiling Springs.  But the past few years have not been the best for Spartanburg and it has seemed like a tipping point, one way or another, is the Boiling Springs game.  After an emotional win last year, the Vikings blew out the Bulldogs for the first time since 2014. I believe it’s safe to say that mental hurdle has been removed.
  1. It’s a lot of fun to watch a player who shows potential break out.  That happened against the Bulldogs with Viking WR Andrew Dantin.  The Junior had 12 catches for 281 yards.  His route running
  1. The DL made a massive impact.
