Week 5 2A/3A High School Football Preview

Friday Night is right around the corner and week five of the high school football season has plenty of exciting games on the schedule. Let’s take a look at the matchups from 2A/3A in our local listening area.

Greer @ Woodruff

The Greer Yellow Jackets are coming off a win against Union from last week. It was one of the best games on Friday night as both teams went back and forth. Union scored late in the game and were still trailing by one, but they went for the win and failed to convert the two-point conversion and Greer picked up the impressive win on the road.

Woodruff had their first game action in two weeks and traveled down to BHP where the Wolverines would go on to lose 29-21. Woodruff got off to a slow start which allowed for BHP to jump out to a significant lead but as the game went on Woodruff kept chipping away at the lead but they just were not able to climb out of the hole and loss their second consecutive game.

This week’s matchup I think that win for Greer last week can really get them going and I think they pick up another victory on the road with the final score being 31-21.

Landrum @ Broome

Landrum is coming into this game playing really solid football as they have won three straight games. Last week they blew out SCA 56-0. Defensively the Cardinals continue to play great and the offense has been in a nice groove as well. But they will have a challenge playing up a classification in this game against Broome.

Broome is coming off a loss to Emerald and Broome really started off slow offensively. They started to make a push closing the gap in the lead that Emerald opened up but the gap was too big to overcome and the Centurions couldn’t get enough stops and they fell 41-28.

Despite Landrum playing well I am learning towards Broome in this one but they must start faster offensively and they must find a solution to their defensive woes. I expect Landrum to play hard and have their opportunities but in the end, I see the Centurions winning this one.

Chesnee @ Timberland

Chesnee fell to 0-4 the season after falling to the Chapman Panthers last week losing 46-22. Now they will travel to play Timberland who is 3-0 on the season. Chesnee has played a very difficult schedule and when they play a team in their classification and region I think that will help them and Chesnee will start to get on a roll

I believe this will be their first game this year against another team from the 2A classification team this year and I don’t know a whole lot about Timberland except they are averaging 24 ppg game and allowing just 12 ppg. I do think this is game that Chensee can put themselves in the win column.
