Week 7 2A/3A Preview

Week 7 of the high school football is just about upon us and this week features some exciting games. Let’s take a look at the 2A/3A matchups in our area

Clinton @ Broome

Broome is coming off a win last week as they added Robbinsville as their opponent in the middle of the week last week. The Centurions were able to pick up the victory last week winning a shootout by the final score of 46-43.

This week the Centurions have a tough matchup as they take on Clinton who was able to beat Union last week pretty easily by the final score of 56-21.

The Centurions will have their hands full against the Red Devils who have been clicking on all cylinders. I am leaning towards winning this game with Broome’s defensive struggles.

Emerald @ Chapman

The Chapman Panthers started off region play with a 1-0 start as they beat Woodruff by a final score of 54-35.

DJ Black had himself one heck of a performance as he scored 5 touchdowns in winning the effort and the Panthers would love for the connection of Drew Settle and Black to continue to produce at a high level and believe those two will have another big night against Emerald.

I see the Panthers improving their region record to 2-0 as they should win big over Emerald.

Union @ Woodruff

Union is still looking for their first win of the year and to bounce back after losing their region opener against Clinton. Woodruff is also trying to bounce back from dropping their region opener to Chapman.

In this game, I feel that both teams are very evenly matched and expect it to be close the whole way through. Right now I am leaning towards Woodruff at home but Union will have their chances in this one but the question is will they take advantage of it.

Chesnee @ St Joes

Chesnee picked up their first win of the season against Legion last Friday night by the final score of 31-28. Now they look to pick up their first region win against St. Joes this Friday night.

St. Joes is off to a good start as they are 5-1 on the year and 1-0 inside region play. So the Eagles will have a tough matchup to open their region schedule.

Chesnee has not fared well in their non-region schedule but my original belief has not waivered that by the start of region play I believe that Chesnee will turn it around and be a force inside their region.

This could be a good statement win if the Eagles can get it and I am picking the Eagles to win this game in a close one.

Blacksburg @ Landrum

Landrum will open their region schedule against Blacksburg who fell in their region opener to St. Joes last week. The Cardinals have been playing pretty good football winning 3 out of their last four games.

Blacksburg is coming into this one struggling like they have all year, especially on defense as they have allowed around 30 ppg. Offensively hasn’t been much better as they are averaging just 16 ppg.

I like the way the Cardinals have looked especially on defense this year and I look for them to make it very difficult for Blacksburg in this game. I like the Cardinals to pick up the win in their first region matchup of the year.
