Clary

Clary’s 3 Things-Week 7

Each Week following Spartanburg Viking Football games, I’m going to take a couple of days and think about the 3 most important things I saw on the field.  This week I focus on 3 things I took away from the 65-19 win over Wade Hampton

1-The future is bright.  A lot of young players had a chance to play and I saw a lot of speed and discipline on the field. It was a lot of fun to watch the future get on the field for a half.  From what we’ve heard about the C team matched with what we’ve seen from the Sophomore class such as Damien Coats gets me very excited about what’s to come.

2-We will play Dorman for the Region title (no it’s not just down to these two but if SHS wins they’ll be the champs) but make no mistake, we have a lot to clean up.  The penalties and self made mistakes are up and we’ve got to clean them up if we want to beat Dorman.

3-Deandre Davis is really really fast.  He’s a playmaker on both sides of the ball and a real difference maker. I’ve been very impressed with his senior season and his pass rushing ability and coverage skills have gone way up.  I expect to see him run the ball more in the next couple of games.
