Broome

Week 10 2A/3A Preview

Week 10 of the high school football is the final regular-season week, and we have plenty of exciting games in our area. Let’s look at the matchups from the 2A/3A games in our local listening area.

Clinton @ Woodruff

The Wolverines are coming into this game playing pretty good football winning three straight games inside the region.

In their latest win, they won a shootout against Broome by a final score of 49-42. They did have a big lead in the game that Broome was able to chip away at by in the end it was Woodruff that was able to make some keep stops to hang on to the lead.
This week they have a difficult challenge at home as they take on the Clinton Red Devils who are a very stingy defense. I think Woodruff will certainly make their plays but, in the end, I am leaning to the Red Devils to win this one.

Emerald @ Union

The Union County Yellow Jackets are not just searching for their first region win of the year but their first win of the season.

Union played hard last week and gave Chapman everything they got and had their chance late to pull off an upset, but they were not able to convert a last-second field goal. The game went into overtime, and they again couldn’t convert a field goal try and Chapman was able to win the game on a field goal.
This week against Emerald I like the Yellow Jackets to get the first win they have flirted with opportunities, but they just haven’t done enough to get a win and I think if they play as hard, they did last week against Chapman I think they will be just fine in this one.

Landrum @ St. Joes

The Landrum Cardinals have dropped their last two games losing to Chesnee a couple of weeks ago on a last-second field goal and then again last week in a non-region matchup against Legion.

This week they have a region opponent against St. Josephs who is 6-2 on the year and 2-0 inside region play. Landrum just seemed a step slow all night last week but with a defense like they have, I expect them to be in this game and have an opportunity to win it.
Right now, I am leaning towards the St. Joes to win this game but if the Landrum defense can force some turnovers and give their offense easy scoring opportunities this game could go to the Cardinals.

Broome @ Chapman

Chapman as mentioned earlier survived a scare in overtime last Friday night beating the Union County Yellow Jackets.

Broome fell behind Woodruff early on the game and made a late push but couldn’t make that one bigger play on offense and they loss 49-42.
In this game, I believe the Chapman Panthers will win I think the Centurions will score a good number of points, but I see Chapman’s high-power offense being too much for Broome’s defense to handle.

Chensee @ Mid-Carolina

The Chesnee Eagles have won two in a row inside region play they beat Landrum a couple of weeks back and last Friday night they beat Blacksburg 34-14.
They will look to wrap up their season in a non-region game against Mid-Carolina who is coming into this game at 1-6. Mid Carolina has really struggled this year as they give up on average 31 points per game while scoring only 16.
I like the way Chesnee has been playing the past couple of weeks and I think they will extend their winning streak to three in a row as I see them beating Mid-Carolina.
