Week 10 Picks

Had a good week of picks last week only missed one game to go 9-1. Overall record for the season 42-11.

The final week of the regular season. Week 10. It cannot be possible. Next week we start the high school football playoffs, but this week is loaded with great football games.

This weeks Spartanburg Nutrition Game of the Week is a big one. It is a big game every year but this year it has a lot of meaning.  Dorman at Spartanburg will decide the region title.  If Spartanburg wins they will claim the region title, if Dorman wins it will cause a three way tie and send it to the tiebreaker scenarios.

I feel like this game could be a classic. Dorman with that running game and stout defense against Spartanburg and their talented offense and a defense that has gotten better and better as the season has gone on.  The Dorman defensive front is among the best in the state and could give the Vikings some trouble tonight.

I think this game comes down to the play of Raheim Jeter.  If he is on tonight I think the Vikings can get a big win. They will need him to make plays with his arm and his feet.

Clinton at Woodruff is for playoff seeding. The winner of this game will get the two seed and a home playoff game while the loser will get the three seed and will be forced to go on the road to open up the class 3A playoffs.

The Woodruff offense has looked really good especially since the return of Carson Tucker. The question for the Wolverines has been the defense and their inability to stop big plays.

Clinton is a complete team with a really good offense and a fast and physical defense.  They want to run the football right at you and dare you to stop them and I think this kind of team can really give Woodruff trouble and keep the offense off the field.

Pick: Clinton

Landrum at St Joes is a really big game in 2A.  With a win Landrum can claim a share of the region title and send playoff seedlings to a tie breaker.  A win for the Cardinals would mean a three way tie between them, St Joes, and Chesnee.  Blacksburg would be the four seed in this region with the other three seeds up for grabs.  Landrum has had a rough go of it in their last few games, having a chance to win them both if just play or two had gone differently in each one.

I think this is a winnable football game for the Cardinals if the ball bounces right.  That being sad St Joes is good, but I think if Landrum can jump out early they can get a win but that is easier said than done.

Pick: ST Joes

Other Picks:

Union County needs a win tonight to keep from having a winless football season for the first time since the 40’s.  I think they beat Emerald tonight to make that happen. Which would help Broome in their playoff hunt.

Gaffney has already locked up the region title and should have no issue ending the regular season undefeated by beating Fort Mill tonight.

I’ve got Greer beating Laurens to help improve their playoff position.

Chapman struggled last week with Union and may have some trouble tonight with a good Broome offense.  But I think Chapman gets it done in a higher scoring game.

Byrnes will roll Wade Hampton.

Greenwood over a Boiling Springs team that clinched a playoff birth with their first win last week.

I look for Chesnee to keep their hot streak alive in a non-region win over Mid-Carolina.

Next week: Playoffs.
