Mr. Smith Goes to Chesnee

This week Chesnee High School is hosting the Chesnee Roundball Classic. The three day basketball tournament is an annual tradition and features teams from around the Spartanburg area, as well as the rest of the state. The play on the court has been entertaining this year, with Union, Boiling Springs and Chesnee all getting wins in the first two days.

I attended a few games on Wednesday and this year, like every other, the hospitality was top notch. If you’ve never seen a game at Chesnee you are missing out. With friendly faces and plenty of great food options, this is a tournament I look forward to every year.

There are four more games on Thursday and a champion will be crowned. But even if you don’t have a dog in the fight I suggest you try and make it out to see a game. Coach Andy Pitt and the staff at Chesnee put a lot of work and care into this tournament and it shows. I always have a great time in Chesnee and if you like basketball, I’m sure you would too. The Thursday games are listed below:

THURSDAY

3 pm – Blacksburg vs. York
4:30 pm – Spartanburg Day vs. Union County
6 pm – Chesnee vs. Fort Mill
7:30 pm – Boiling Springs vs. Catawba Ridge
