Matt Reel Named New Boiling Springs FB Coach

Tuesday night the District two school board voted to make Matt Reel the new Boiling Springs High School Football Coach. Reel will succeed Rick Tate who stepped down following the 2021 season.

Reel comes to Boiling Springs High School from the lower state, where he has spent the past five seasons as the head coach at North Myrtle Beach High School and has compiled a 40-16 record at the school. Reel also led the team to the 2020 4A State Championship Game where they lost to AC Flora.

Reel came to NMB in 2016 as offensive coordinator under Coach Blair Hardin, who left following that season to become HC at River Bluff. Reel was promoted to HC after his departure.

Prior to his tenure at NMB, Reel was an assistant football coach and baseball coach in North Carolina.

Reel will be taking over a program that went 1-10 last season but made the playoffs. The team in 2021 was very young and showed signs of improvement throughout the season.
