3 Things Week 2

Each Week following Spartanburg Viking Football games, I’m going to take a couple of days and think about the 3 most important things I saw on the field.  Some good, some great, some not so good.  I’ll try to break through what mattered, and what not to overreact to.  So here’s 3 things from Week 2’s winto Broome.

1-Spartanburg’s future looks bright.  This Sophomore class has been so impressive through the first 3 weeks.  Defensively LBs Cam Smith and Peyton Jones have shown they can make big tackles even at this age. Offensively the WR class is as deep as ever and Sophomores Justin Rice and Calvin Choice are making an impact now.  And of course…there’s Keke….the Freshman superstar RB.

2-Will Love gets better each week.  His timing on his Extra Points and Field Goals are so much better in just a couple of weeks.  This kid has the leg to kick Touchbacks as well.  Again…he’s just a Freshman.  He’s only going to get better but make no mistake, he’s very good right now.

3-Drek Carter is so dangerous in the passing game as well.  The Sr RB is quick and a very good route runner.  It’s clear Carter is a dangerous weapon for the Vikings and he showed it once again, especially in the air, against Broome. Make no mistake, Carter is RB #1 and will have a big year for the Spartanburg.
