Week 3 High School Football 2A/3A preview

The high school football season is already in week 3, and there are many exciting matchups in our local listening area this week. Let’s take a look at the matchup from 2A/3A for this Friday night!

Landrum @ Polk County

Landrum is coming off a rough game where they simply just didn’t have it as they were blown out at home by St. Joseph by a final score of 54-13.

Polk County comes into the game with a 1-2 record, they won the opening game of the season by 14 points, but have lost their last two matchups being outscored 79-33.

I am leaning towards Landrum to bounce back in this game last week was a little surprising to see them never really in the game, but I think Coach Farmer and his staff will have his squad ready to go come Friday night.

Union @ Broome

This is a fun 3A battle between two teams in our local listening area. Broome is coming off a 34-3 loss to a loaded Spartanburg team last week. The game featured a running clock with a little over 9 minutes left in the second quarter so their game ended very early

Union on the other hand found themselves on the wrong side of a shootout as they lost to a solid York team by a final score of 70-59. Union put up numbers offensively obviously scoring 59 points but they got carved up defensively so they will be looking to clean up those issues this week.

Right now I think this game will go back and forth some but in the end, I am leaning towards Union winning the game.

Chapman @ Laurens

Chapman will be on the road and they will be looking to pick up their first win of the year after they fell to 0-3 last week when they lost to Boiling Springs by a final score of 28-27. A botched snap on a late extra point attempt cost Chapman an opportunity to win the game.

Laurens is coming into this game also at 0-3 and they have a rough go at it so far this season as they have been outscored by their opponents so far this year by a combined score of 144-55.

I think Chapman showed a step in the right direction last week offensively and I think this week they get back on track and pull out the win this week.

Chesnee @ R-S Central

The Chesnee Eagles fell to Walhalla last Friday night by a final score of 42-30. It was another game that they were hanging around but just couldn’t find enough to pull ahead and win.

R-S Central is coming into this game with a 1-2 record and they are coming off a loss where they were defeated by a final score of 42-14. on the year the Hilltoppers have been outscored by their opponents 93-118. I see this being a close game but I do feel that Chesnee will do enough to get their first win of the season.

Woodruff @ BHP

The Woodruff Wolverines will be on the road this week to take on BHP. The Wolverines picked up their first loss on the season last week to JL Mann by a final score of 21-3. Woodruff continues to play well on defense but has struggled to have consistency on offense.

BHP is 2-0 on the year the latest win came against Laurens last week by a final score of 48-20 so they have started off this year playing solid football.

I think Woodruff’s defense is showing they have fixed their issues from last season but now they have to figure out how to get their offense going, is this the week they can figure it out? I am not too sure and that is why I am leaning towards BHP winning this football game.
