Week 4 2A/3A Preview

Friday Night is right around the corner so it’s time to get you ready for the matchups in our local listening area. let’s take a look at the matchups from the 2A/3A ranks for this Friday Night.

Broome @ Berea

The Broome Centurions last week lost a close one to Union County, it was a game where they fell behind by double digits early and looked like it could be a one-sided game but the Centurions battled back and gave themselves an opportunity to pull ahead and win the game but they fell just short.

Berea comes into this game with a 1-2 record and is coming off a lopsided defeat when they lost to Wade Hampton by a final score of 56-0. We have seen Berea play one of our local teams a few weeks back when they lost to Landrum by a final score of 34-3.

I think coming into this game both teams just have one win but I feel Broome is certainly more battled tested through their first few games in region play, I believe the Centurions will cruise to a victory in this one.

Clinton @ Chapman

The Chapman Panthers picked up their first win of the season in a hard-fought victory against Laurens the game was tied at 14 at the end of the regulation. The Panthers were able to win in overtime on a 24-yard field goal by Jackson Visoury.

The Clinton Red-Devils are coming into this matchup with a 4-0 record and their latest win was against Aiken by a final score of 49-13. Clinton has been rolling once again this season as they have outscored their opponents by a score of 193-81.

The Panthers were able to pick up their first win of the season last week but still have had their struggles on offense and Clinton has been very solid defensively, right now I am leaning towards Clinton to win this football game.

Woodruff @ Chesnee

Woodruff has now lost 2 in a row as they fell to BHP last week by a final score of 34-27. The Wolverines had their chances in this game but just couldn’t do enough to pull it out.

Chesnee lost another close one last Friday Night at RS Central by a final score of 27-0 I know I write every week it seems but Chesnee is really in each and every one of these games they are not overmatched they just have not been able to close out a game.

Both these come into this game on a losing streak and obviously one will come to an end and I believe that will be for the Woodruff Wolverines.

Union @ Laurens

The Union Yellow Jackets went on the road last week and picked up a win against Broome by a final score of 32-27. The Yellow Jackets came out of the gates fast and jumped out to an early double-digit lead, but Broome fought back as mentioned earlier in the article, but in the end, the Yellow Jackets continued to make a few big plays on both sides of the ball and got the win.

Laurens as mentioned early lost in a defensive struggle against Chapman last week in overtime by a final score of 17-14. Laurens is now 0-4 on the season and has been outscored by their opponents by a combined score of 76-168. So they have been struggling.

I expect Union to come away with their second straight road Victory and I think they win fairly comfortably in this matchup and improve their record to 3-1.

SCA @ Landrum

The Landrum Cardinals are coming off back-to-back losses and both losses were not close. They were dominated last Friday night by Polk County by a final score of 49-7. In the last two weeks for the Cardinals, they have been outscored by their opponents 103-20.

SCA is coming into this game with a 2-1 record and has won their last two matchups. Last week they defeated Palmetto Christian Academy by a final score of 8-7. I don’t know much about SCA if I am being honest. I do know that Landrum defeated SCA last year by a final score of 56-0.

I look for the Cardinals to bounce back from their recent struggles and win this game comfortably and having both sides of the ball make big plays throughout the game.
