Boiling Springs

Week 7 Picks

Week seven is here.  The weeks just keep marching along faster and faster.  The first week of region play was good and the second week promises to be just as exciting.

Boiling Springs at Byrnes-GOTW

Both teams got off to 0-1 starts in region play. Boiling Springs lost a one-sided affair to Dorman while Byrnes lost a close one to Spartanburg at Viking Stadium.

Starting off 0-2 in region play really puts a team behind the eight ball when it comes to playoffs, more so in this case with both teams having Gaffney left and Boiling Springs having Spartanburg and Byrnes with Dorman still looming on their schedule.

Boiling Springs still can’t find any consistency on the offensive side of the football and will likely struggle to do so this week against a very good Byrnes defense.

The Rebels need to clean up some mistakes, they turned the ball over last week against the Vikings way to many times.  If they can limit that they will win.

Pick: Byrnes

Spartanburg at Gaffney

Vikings are 1-0 in region play following an impressive win over Byrnes last week.  The Indians have yet to start region play and had their bye week last week.

In their last two games the Indians have looked like a completely different team than in the first couple of weeks.

Both of these teams have been tested and have played very difficult schedules.  The Indians took some time to find their offense but seemed to have done just that.  If they can keep that offensive momentum, coupled with that really good defense they will be tough to beat the rest of the year.

Spartanburg’s defense really stepped up last week and stifled a good Byrnes offense, forcing multiple turnovers.  If the Vikings defense can play like that again this week and continue to establish the running game this will be a dogfight until the end.

Blue Ridge at Broome

This game could be a big one in determining the region champion.  Blue Ridge has a really good offense and their quarterback is really good.

Broome’s offense has really stepped it up the past couple of weeks and has looked almost unstoppable.  This game could be a really high scoring affair. Which defense will come up with the most stops?

Pick: Broome

Ninety-Six at Landrum-

Two of the goals for the Cardinals this season are to have a winning season and qualify for the playoffs. A win this week against Ninety-Six would go along way toward helping them accomplish those goals.

The Cardinal defense looked really good last week. Can they duplicate that performance?

Pick: Landrum

Dorman will continue to rack up the wins and the points against Mauldin.

Woodruff will get their first region win of the season over Emerald.

Chester will beat Union.

Greer moves to 1-1 in the region with a win over Eastside.

Chesnee will still be looking for their first win of the season next week as they will fall to Abbeville.

We will break down all these games more on the Friday Night Tailgate Show starting at 4:30 and don’t forget to join Brett and Anthony tonight for Victory formation following the games!
