Week 10 2A/3A Preview

The final week of the regular season is here, that’s hard to believe as this season has flown by. Let’s take a look at the matchups for 2A/3A games in our local listening area.

Chapman @ Broome

A region title is on the line as the Broome Centurions will play host to the Chapman Panthers, and both teams have been red hot coming into this game. The Centurions have won 5 straight games their latest was against Carolina where they dominated in every aspect of the game-winning 48-0.

The Chapman Panthers put up 64 points against Blue Ridge and they would go on to win 64-34. Chapman started off the year slow offensively but they have found their groove and have been putting up points in bunches so this will be a challenge for the Centurion’s defense.

On the other hand, the Panthers will have their hands full trying to stop the very talented junior Quarterback Kamajay Brackett-Brannon who has been tearing it up all season long. This should be a very fun back-and-forth affair but I am leaning toward the Centurions to win the game and the region.

Chesnee @ Liberty

The Chesnee Eagles have made it two wins in a row after their win last Friday Night against 96. They were trailing late in the game and put a drive together to take a 27-26 lead. 96 set themselves up for a last-second field go attempt and they were unable to put it through the uprights.

Liberty was dominated by the Landrum Cardinals as they fell 21-0, and with that loss, they have dropped to fifth place in the region and have lost their last two games.

I think this is a game that will be close but Chesnee has the momentum and they want to hold onto the third seed inside this region. I see the Chesnee Eagles making it 3 in a row.

Landrum @ Blacksburg

The Landrum Cardinals were very inconsistent during their non-region schedule and to be honest I didn’t know what to expect from them when they entered region play. But the Cardinals turned it around once they got to the game that truly matter, and they have found themselves sitting in second place in the region.

Their only loss came from a powerhouse in Abbeville but they bounced back from that loss last week by defeating Liberty 21-0. The Cardinals will now take on Blacksburg, who has really struggled this year and are in dead last in the region with a 0-4 record.

I look for the Cardinals to take care of business and win comfortably in this game against Blacksburg and head into the playoffs as a two-seed

Union @ Woodruff

Union is in a must-win situation if they are going to have any shot to make the playoffs. Union has really struggled this year as they are entering this game with a five-game losing streak. Their latest loss came to Emerald where once again Union was never in the game as they fell 44-8.

Woodruff had an open week but the Wolverines have also been a little shaky as of late, as they lost three out of their last four games. In their last game a few weeks ago against Clinton, they were blown out losing by a final score of 59-20.

At the end of the day I see Woodruff winning this football game, I just don’t think Union will have enough to win this one and I see Woodruff winning very comfortably and give them so momentum heading into the playoffs.
