Week 10 Picks

The final week of the regular season. Tonight we will crown some region champs, decide all of our playoff seedings, and also bid farewell to some of our local teams.  It will be a joyous time for some and a sad time for others. This week should prove to be another exciting week of high school football and we can’t wait to see what happens.

Spartanburg at Dorman-GOTW

At full strength this game has all the makings of another classic Spartanburg Dorman rivalry football game.  Both teams have strong offenses and good defenses.

Dorman’s ability to run the football is outstanding and Spartanburg can get it done on the ground and through the air.

However it doesn’t appear that Spartanburg will be at full strength.  The flu is running through the state of South Carolina and it has hit the Vikings hard. With the unknown of who will be available game planning is tough this week for the Vikings.

Winner of this game gets the 2 seed and the loser gets the 3. Both seeds have tough roads to a state title appearance but doesn’t everyone in the upstate.

Chapman at Broome

Region 3-3A Championship on the line.  We have talked about it for several weeks now but these two teams have had very similar seasons.  Both got off to a rough start but over the last few weeks have really turned it on especially offensively.

Both teams were young to start the season but guys have grown into their roles and both teams have improved drastically.  I expect this game to be high scoring and highly entertaining.  I think the two guys in the backfield for Broome make the difference.

Pick:Broome

Greer at Riverside

Greer is another team that has been trending upward over the last few weeks.  The spent a lot of time injured but having most of those guys back has made Greer a much better football team.

Martin has grown into another in the long line of great Greer running backs and could be a real special player over his career as a Yellow Jacket.

Riverside is different than the Riverside teams we have seen in the past. This team has some talent and some coaching.

A Greer win would make it a three way tie between Greer, Riverside, and Laurens.  The tiebreaker would be defensive points allowed in the games between those teams.

Pick: Greer

Other Picks:

Woodruff will put an end to Union County’s season .

Landrum will beat Blacksburg.

Gaffney will defeat Byrnes in a close one.

Chesnee keeps their hot streak alive and defeats Liberty.

Looking forward to this week and cannot wait for the playoffs to start next week.
