Each Week following Spartanburg Viking Football games, I’m going to take a couple of days and think about the 3 most important things I saw on the field. Some good, some great, some not so good. I’ll try to break through what mattered, and what not to overreact to. So here’s 3 things from the Round 1 59-17 Playoff win over Nation Ford.
1-No one, including Spartanburg is immune to slow starts. It of course didn’t matter because the Vikings scored 45 unanswered points but Spartanburg has to make sure each round going forward that we are focused from play 1. I love how we responded and once we went up, even just by 1, it felt like the game was over.
2-CB Jayden Brown has been terrific all season. He has 10 Pass Break Ups on the season, multiple open field tackles and now he’s added his first Pick 6 of his career. He made a great read on a quick out and took it to the house from over 60 yards. Cam Tiswell added his first career pick 6 in the game as well. The Vikings have had great moments this year on defense and Friday night’s win over Nation Ford was certainly a good one.
3-Que Moore needs more 1 on 1 opportunities. The senior WR had 2 great jump ball TDs including one on the last play of the 1st half. Moore now has 8 TDs on the season and going forward I hope he gets more chances to make plays on some jump balls as he is incredibly athletic.
