Boiling Springs

Week 5 Picks

Final chance for teams to work on some things before region play gets underway. Week 5, how can you already be here? Seems like it should be week 2 or something. It sure is flying by.

Woodruff at Broome-Game of the Week

Broome has been impressive this season. They are 4-1 with their lone loss coming to Spartanburg, when the Centurions went for the lead on a two point conversion instead of kicking the extra point to tie.  We knew coming into the season just how good the offense had potential to be with KBB and McGill, but I am not sure we had any idea how good the defense would be.

In their three losses this season Woodruff has given up a ton of points.  57 to Chapman, 40 to JL Mann, and 49 to BHP.  With an offense as good as Broome’s this could be an issue again this week.

I think the Broome defense is the difference in this game. I think they will get the stops and the Centurions win comfortably.

Pick: Broome

Union at Chapman

The Yellow Jackets got in the win column for the first time last week with an emotional 20-17 win over the Laurens Raiders. The Jacket defense was able to get some turnovers and held Laurens to zero points in the second half.  The offense was able to get a late score to get the Jackets over the hump.

But Chapman ain’t Laurens.

We know that this Chapman offense can really put up points and I think it will be hard for the Jackets to find stops.  While on the other side of the ball the Chapman defense has been stingy all year.  Could be a tough night for the Jackets.

Pick: Chapman

Spartanburg at Mauldin

We said going into last week the Vikings had two weeks to get their offense rolling after finding its identity in the game against Grayson. Last week they did exactly what they needed to do against Riverside.  The running game looked really good and they were able to complete some big passes down field.

This week provides the Vikings with another opportunity to work on some things offensively.  With a very good Byrnes defense waiting next week, the Vikings need to be rolling when they head to Nixon field.

Vikings win big tonight.

Pick: Spartanburg

Other Picks:

Landrum beats Blue Ridge

I like Westside over Greer

Byrnes over West Florence

Boiling Springs over Clover

If Dorman can find some kind of offensive identity I like them to win over River Bluff

I like Gaffney to bounce back and get a win at Fort Dorchester.

Looking forward to tonight’s games as I will be at Chapman vs Union and will have a full report on Victory Formation after the games!
