USC Upstate Athletics, Fox Sports Spartanburg Begin 70-Plus Event Broadcast Slate as Men’s Basketball Takes On South Carolina This Evening

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As collegiate basketball begins its season and USC Upstate men’s and women’s basketball open its respective 2023-24 slate, the partnership between USC Upstate Athletics and Fox Sports Spartanburg begins tonightwith the first game broadcast on the new home of USC Upstate Athletics.

Tonight’s men’s basketball at South Carolina begins a slate of 70 live events broadcast on the station for men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball. The game also marks Ryan Clary’s debut as the radio play-by-play voice of the Spartans as the on-air host of “Open Mic Daily”—the longest-running locally produced radio show in Spartanburg—begins pregame coverage tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET. Pregame coverage of all Upstate events on the station begins one hour prior to tip-off with the “Upstate Tailgate,” a pregame show hosted by Joe Skinner and Alex Smith.

Locally, Fox Sports Spartanburg can be heard on 98.3 FM and 1400 AM while the station also live streams to the free Fox Sports Spartanburg app, available via the Apple Store or Google Play, via the Listen Live icon. Live audio is also available on the station’s website at SpartanburgSportsRadio.com and by searching WSPG-AM on the TuneIn Radio app.

USC Upstate Athletics now anchors a full slate of live sporting events and local programming on Fox Sports Spartanburg. The station produces two live shows every weekday including “Bump and Run” hosted by Tyler Shugart mornings from 7-9 a.m. Each afternoon, Clary, Smith and Anthony Greer co-host the longest-running locally produced radio show in the market, “Open Mic Daily,” now in its 18th year, airing from 3-6 p.m.

USC Upstate women’s basketball head coach Jason Williams catches up with Shugart each Monday at 8:30 a.m. with a weekly interview on “Bump and Run” while men’s basketball head coach Dave Dickerson joins Clary, Smith, and Greer each Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. for his weekly interview on “Open Mic Daily.”
