SPARTANBURG, S.C. — USC Upstate Athletics will again “take over” the Fox Sports Spartanburg 98.3 FM airwaves on Wednesday, July 17. The second edition of “Spartan Takeover Day” will allow fans of all USC Upstate programs to get a mid-summer update on each program directly from all nine USC Upstate head coaches and Director of Athletics Matt Martin.
Now entering its second year as the flagship home of USC Upstate Athletics, Fox Sports Spartanburg is hosting a gathering for all Upstate fans and supporters at Rockers Brewing located at 226-A W. Main Street in downtown Spartanburg beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET on July 17. Come out and join in the fun and meet USC Upstate coaches and administrators as well as NASCAR Xfinity Series driver and Spartanburg native Jeremy Clements.
“We’re excited to once again showcase USC Upstate Athletics and our growing partnership through our Takeover Day,” said Fox Sports Spartanburg president Ryan Clary. “We always enjoy having Upstate coaches on throughout the year and being the home of over 70 live events this past year has been a thrill for all of us associated with Fox Sports Spartanburg and our listeners.”
In addition to updates in each USC Upstate program from head coaches, Director of Athletics, Matt Martin, will share news on an exciting relaunch of the Upstate Athletic Fund (UAF) which replaces the former U-Club. The UAF introduces new giving incentives for supporters of all Upstate programs and molds all athletic philanthropic giving under one platform.
The fun begins on “Bump and Run” which signs on at 7:00 a.m. each weekday and is hosted by Tyler Shugart. The slate for “Bump and Run” is as follows:
7:45 am – Todd Lawton, head men’s and women’s golf coach
8:05 am – Jason Williams, head women’s basketball coach
