Week 6 College Football Preview

#9 Missouri @ #25 Texas A&M

The only Top 25 matchup in Week Six of the 2024 College Football Season is between two former Big 12 turned SEC Rivals, Missouri and Texas A&M.

This is a game that just has intrigue and uncertainty written all over.  College Station is always a tough place to play and for that reason the 4-1 Aggies are a 2.5 favorite over the undefeated Tigers.  However, Texas A&M could be favored for more reasons than one.

Missouri is 4-0 to start the year, but it has not come very easy.  After destroying Murray State and Buffalo in their first two games of the year, they have gone into two battles against Boston college and Vanderbilt.  The Tigers came on top by six against the Eagles and escaped with a double OT victory against Vandy.  These two games could signal that maybe Missouri is not as good as everyone expected them to be in 2024.

Texas A&M has had the complete opposite trajectory of their season.  Coming off one of the single most disappointing seasons in program history last year, the Aggies lost Week One this year to Notre Dame.  However, the Aggies have responded with four straight victories against McNeese State, Florida, Bowling Green and Arkansas.  Freshman Marcel Reed has been one of the best freshmen in the country and been quite the calling card at the quarterback position for the Aggies.

This will be the first meeting between these two programs since 2021 when Texas A&M won 35-14 in Columbia, MO. This game kicks off Saturday at noon on ABC.

FINAL SCORE PREDICITION: 28-24, Missouri

#15 Clemson @ Florida State

In what was one of the most anticipated ACC matchups during fall camp is nothing more than a mid-season conference game between the Tigers and Seminoles.  Furthermore, this game could get really ugly really fast.

Clemson has been on FIRE. After losing in Week 1, the Tigers have been relentless on both sides of the ball when they have had their first-string units still on the field. Cade Klubnik has finally started to look like the five-star dual threat recruit that he was out of high school.  He has 16 totals touchdowns in the last three games for the Tigers.

On the other side, FSU’s season has been horrendous. Both sides of the ball have underperformed, and that is putting it lightly. DJ Uiagalelei, former Clemson and Oregon State QB may not be playing Saturday due to a broken finger. However, when he has played, he has not been good.  Uiagalelei has thrown 6 interceptions and only four touchdowns, as the offense is only averaging 15.6 points a game.  The defense has not pulled their weight either, including giving up 42 points last week to SMU.

Clemson has won seven of the last eight matchups, but lost last year in overtime to the Seminoles, 31-24.  This game kicks off Saturday at 7pm on ESPN.

FINAL SCORE PREDICITION: 55-14, Clemson

#12 Ole Miss @ South Carolina

One of the more interesting matchups of Week Six will be in Columbia on Saturday Afternoon between the Rebels and Gamecocks. This game could be blowout quickly in favor of Ole Miss, but it could very well be an instant SEC classic.

The Rebels are coming off a very unfortunate loss at home against Kentucky.  In the Ole Miss SEC opener, Kentucky came in and dominated up front against the Rebels.  The Ole Miss Defense still looked as good as it has all year, conceding only 20 points to the Wildcats.  However, the offense was very stagnant.  Only 17 points from the Rebels offense after they scored 40+ in each of their first four games of the year.  The biggest question to be answered: how will the Rebels as a team respond from such a down game against Kentucky?

On the other side, South Carolina is looking to make a statement.  After a sluggish game Week One against Old Dominion, the Gamecocks have come to play every week since.  Even in a losing effort against LSU, South Carolina was in the game until the last second, losing by just three. Coming off of a bye week, the Gamecocks were able to get back to full health, as freshman QB Lanorris Sellers should be at 100%.

The last two matchups have both been in Oxford, MS and were both high scoring affairs. South Carolina won in 2018 48-44, while the Rebels won the most recent matchup in 2020, 59-42. This game kicks off at 3:30pm Saturday on ESPN

FINAL SCORE PREDICITION: 45-31, Ole Miss
