Tonight, round two of the high school football playoffs. Each week the games get bigger. It will definitely fell liked late November and high school playoffs tonight with the temperature dropping into the low 40s during the games. Get the hot chocolate ready.
Byrnes at Spartanburg-
This wasn’t much of a game a few weeks ago. The wheels fell off early for the Rebels and snowballed from there. The Vikings dominated ever aspect of the game. Since that game Byrnes has played a lot better. The difference? Tre Segarra.
With Segarra in the game Byrnes is a much better team. He is a high caliber running back who can take a lot of pressure off of Rebel QB Zy Landrum. Byrnes has also showed some option stuff with Landrum and Segarra and with the running ability those two have, that is a very dangerous combination.
If the Rebels can get that running game going and keep the Spartanburg offense off the field they can win. If Spartanburg can stay disciplined and come out like they did a few weeks ago and punch Byrnes in the mouth early it could be a good night for the Vikings.
Woodruff at Powdersville-
This could be the best game on the schedule tonight. Two high scoring offenses. Which defense gets some stops tonight? Can one of the defenses get a takeaway or two? Expect some big numbers to be put up in this game. Always tough to win on the road in the playoffs, but I think Woodruff has been tested more and will prevail tonight.
