Leader. Shrine Bowler. Simply one of the best. Cam Smith is a special player. He’s all over the field and involved in almost every play.
Despite the fact that he came up as a running back he became one of the best linebackers many of us have had the pleasure of watching play. He has been a problem for offenses the last few years. No matter what team it was they needed to account for #22.
Cam finished his senior season 135 total tackles, 25 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 1 pick 6, 1 forced fumble, and a pass break up. Cam also scored 4 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball for a total of 5 total touchdowns.
When you talk to Cam about the season and show him the stat line his first response is to take the pass break-up off there because he doesn’t like it, says it should have been an interception.
The stats are just part of the story. The impact Cam had on games was unbelievable. Whether it was a big sack or TFL, or a 4th down run it seemed like Cam was always coming up with a big play to shut down a teams momentum or spark the Vikings.
Coach Mark Hodge had this to say about Cam Smith, “Cam is one of the all time best players I have ever coached. How you see Cam play is how he does everything- practice, class, weights-everything. It has been a privilege to coach him and he has absolutely earned this honor. Well done Cam.”
Congratulations to Cam Smith our 2024 Electrifying Player of the Year!
