Spartans Headed to Clemson

The USC Upstate Spartans learned their NCAA tournament fate on Monday afternoon. The Spartans, winners of the Big South regular season and tournament titles for the first time, will travel up I-85 to participate in the Clemson Regional.

The Spartans received the 4 seed in that Clemson Regional and will face the regional’s #1 seed and the #11 national seeded, Clemson Tigers on Friday at 6pm at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The early game that day will take place at noon and will be 2 seed West Virginia taking on 3 seed Kentucky.

Upstate and Clemson faced off once this year back on March 4th at Fluor field in Greenville that resulted in a 7-0 midweek win for the Tigers. Clemson finished the season 44-16 overall and 18-12 in the ACC. The Tigers finished runner-up in the ACC tourney falling in the Championship game 14-4 to North Carolina in Durham this past Sunday.

All USC Upstate postseason games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Spartanburg 98.3 and on the Fox Sports Spartanburg app.
