Boiling Springs

Week 4 Picks

Really hard to believe that region play is here for our 4A and 5A teams.  Seems like only a week ago it was week zero and we were just getting this thing started.  Every year it just seems to go faster and faster.

Boiling Springs at Gaffney-

All year we have been talking about how Gaffney needs to pick a quarterback and stick with it instead of swapping between two during games. With the departure of Jayvon Gilmore this week it looks like Gaffney has done just that. Banks Bouton will now lead the Indians offense as Gaffney heads into region play. The Indian offense struggled two weeks ago in a surprising loss to the Greenville Red Raiders.  Can they find enough offense to win this week or can the talented Boiling Springs defense keep the Indians off balance. I look for a low scoring game here unless the Indians have found something sticking with one QB.

Pick: Gaffney

Chesnee at Woodruff-

I really like both of these teams and think they both can really be a force in their respective regions and classifications.  Both offenses have some real talent.  I got to see a good bit of the second half of Chesnee’s game last week against R-S Central and came away even more impressed with Evan Reece-Lawter than I already was. He was getting it done on both sides of the football.

I really like Chesnee but I think the Woodruff offense with Aiden Gibson is just going to be a little too much for them.

Pick- Woodruff

I think Powdersville will defeat Broome.

Byrnes will have a running clock in the second half against Wade Hampton.

Chapman seemed to be much improved last week and took Clinton to overtime before falling to the Red Devils. I like the Panthers to get their first win of the season this week against Christ Church.

Dorman should have no problem with Riverside.

Greer will start off region play with a win over Berea.

I like the Landrum Cardinals over West-Oak.

Chester is a far cry from what they have been the last few years but I think they will get by Union, who got their first win of the season last week.

MVP will roll over the Anderson Cavs.

Another high school football Friday is here and I am excited about this week’s games.  The Spartanburg Vikings will visit Eastside and it will be my first time ever visiting that football stadium. Should be a lot of fun and I hope that if you aren’t going to a game that you will listen in this week. I hope you all have fun at the games and remind you to do something nice for someone this week, you never know what even a small act of kindness will do for some one.
