Broome

Week 6 2A/3A Preview

The Season is already past the midpoint of the year and there are only a few weeks left until the playoffs. Many are just beginning their region play and others are trying to pick up crucial wins to set them up for playoffs seedings and of course perhaps a region title. Let’s take a look at the matchups in the 2A/3A in our local listening area.

Woodruff @ Broome
The Woodruff Wolverines are coming off their first blemish of the season as they fell to very good Wren team last week as they fell 35-7. Wren simply built a comfortable lead and never looked back, so the Wolverines will now look to start region play off on the right foot by beating Broome.

Broome is coming into this game with some momentum winning two straight games. Their latest win came against a struggling Blacksburg squad, but they left no doubt beating them 40-7. Despite being hot coming into this game they will have a test for sure against this Woodruff squad that is looking to have a bounce back win.

The key to this game will be if Broome can stop the run, which is something they have had trouble doing this year, we know Woodruff has a strong run game and if Broome can’t contain it, then this game could get away from them.

Union @ MVP

Union were outmatched last week against Clinton as they fell 60-0. Lately their offense has come to life but they simply just couldn’t get anything going last week and now they enter their first region game of the year and it’s a tough one against MVP.

MVP is fresh after having their Bye week last week and they enter this game undefeated at 5-0 and they are simply dominating their matchups this year. They have outscored their opponents 236 to 66.

This is a tough game for the Union as they just simply don’t have the athletes that the Stars possess and I see this game being one sided and the stars should be 6-0 and 1-0 in region play after its all said and done. But man if Union could find a way for the upset here that can get them going.

Chesnee @ Blacksburg

The Chesnee Eagles are coming off their bye week and are trying to regroup after their last game against The Woodruff Wolverines as they fell 52-17 against them, but really there is no shame there as they challenge themselves by playing a good football team and that I believe will help them in the non region schedule.

Blacksburg has had a rough season as they been blown out in just about every game and they have given up at least 40 points in five of their six games.
Chesnee is the better team here and they should run all over the Blacksburg I look for them to control the clock and the game and begin region play with a win.
