Round 1 POTW

Round one of the playoffs is in the rearview mirror. Some of our teams got eliminated Friday night while others will move on to the second round in their quest for a state title.

One of those teams moving on are the Woodruff Wolverines. The Wolverines beat West Oak 49-7 to advance to round two of the playoffs. They did that without star running back Aiden Gibson. They were able to prevail without him thanks to the outstanding play of junior quarterback Connor Davis. His efforts earn him our round one electrifying player of the week award presented by Broad River Electric. Davis was 17 of 27 passing for 345 yards and 4 touchdowns while also running the ball 3 times for 23 yards and another touchdown. All in all Davis accounted for 5 touchdowns and almost 370 yards.

Woodruff will play their second round game on Friday at WL Varner Stadium against Christ Church who defeated Walhalla in the first round 47-7.  Congratulations to Woodruff on the win and Congratulations to Connor Davis on his second POTW award of the season. Good Luck to the Wolverines going forward in the playoffs.
