Every week after a Spartanburg Viking Football game, I’m going to put my thoughts here on the 3 Biggest things I took away from our game last Friday Night. With that said, here are my thoughts on our Round 2 29-21 loss to Ridge View and the 2025 season.
1-For the first time all year, a team bottled up Trenton Lynch who 1…clearly wasn’t 100% but absolutely was able to go and played all the way up till the final drive where he was just to banged up and 2…you have to give Ridge View the credit. They swarmed to Lynch all night and we couldn’t find a lot of space for him. He finished the night with 19 carries for 65 yards. Overall – Lynch finished the season with 1475 yards and 18 TDs on the ground with 26 catches for 339 yards and 3 TDs to go with it. Trenton in his career has 3678 yards…he is 88 yards away from passing Tavien Feaster for 4th all time in school history and 1034 yards away from passing Carnie Norris for 1st all time. Lynch has rushed for over 1300 yards in each of the last 2 seasons.
2-Our Defense faced a lot of trials and tribulations this season with so many injuries. I was very proud of our kids and how they improved in some key areas such as red zone defense. Ridge View’s first offensive possession started at our 10 yard line and they came away with 0 points. The Vikings have 10 players who started games on Defense that will return next season so there’s a lot to build off of.
3-I want to thank the Senior class for representing the Gold Helmet with class and pride. No incidents, no controversary, no fights…just hard work and you kids were a group that we as Viking fans are very proud of. Undefeated against Dorman is something you’ll always have here at Home.
