Dorman’s Ja’Bez Thomas is this week’s Broad River Electric Cooperative Player of the Week after an impact performance on both sides of the football in the Cavaliers’ 35-21 win over Byrnes Friday night. Thomas helped spark the Dorman offense with 9 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown, averaging 7.1 yards per carry, and he also completed his only pass attempt for 19 yards. His touchdown came on an 8-yard run late in the first quarter that helped Dorman pull even in a back-and-forth opening period.
Thomas was just as active on the defensive side, finishing with 4 solo tackles while also being credited with 2 interceptions on the official defensive stat sheet. His versatility was on full display throughout the night, as he contributed in nearly every phase of the game and gave Dorman another playmaker who could change the game whenever the ball was in his hands.
His night did not stop there. Thomas also handled punting duties, averaging 36.5 yards on two punts, and added a 17-yard kickoff return on special teams. With production on offense, defense and special teams, Thomas put together one of the most complete performances of the week and earns the honor as the Broad River Electric Cooperative Player of the Week following Dorman’s 35-21 victory over Byrnes.
